What a wet day! Today it was Beech Class who were timetabled for Forest School, but the rain and wind were so severe that we decided to have a shorter session outside. We began our session in class where the children painted Christmas designs on section of logs and branches. When these are dry we will hang them in the Wildlife Garden to make a wind chime. This way we will be able to hear the effects of the wind, as well as seeing it in the flags made by the children earlier.
We ventured outside for snack, and gathered together under our tarpaulin shelter, while the rain poured on it. The children then investigated ways of collecting the rain which was gathering in large pools on the top of the tarpaulin. The class topic of weather has made them very curious about the different weather conditions.
We boiled up some water in our Kelly Kettle, and shared a hot drink or juice before squelching our way back to class!
