Our programme of Adventure Days got off to a brilliant start! Chestnut class spent the day at Dove Stone Reservoir in Greenfield – and what a beautiful day it was! The lake was like a mirror when we set off for our walk around it, and the sun shone bright all day, even though it was a cold wintry day.
The children were all carrying their own packs, taking responsibility for their lunches and their tarpaulin mats, as well as waterproofs, through we didn’t need to put these on.
We stopped our walk for lunch and explored Ashway Gap, where there was once a big house. It is important that when we leave our lunch site we tidy up after ourselves, and leave no trace that we have been there. That way we can enjoy the scenery and so can all those who follow us there.
On our way round we sat for a while on the rocks at the water’s edge, as a large group of walkers passed us. The children all greeted them in a very friendly manner.
Chestnut Class were a credit to their families and their teachers. A great start to a series of Adventure Days.
