First Frosts

The temperatures are dropping now and we have had some quite different weather conditions for our Forest School sessions. This is useful for Beech Class because they are studying the weather at the moment. In the strong wind last week they made flags which they decorated and attached to the long willow branches which we harvested from the Wildlife Garden. The flags showed us which way the wind was blowing, and it was certainly blowing very powerfully.
The cold mornings mean that there is often a heavy dew on the grass. This makes it easy to see where the spiders have been busy, and we found some beautiful webs on the fence and in trees and in the long grass. Those spiders have definitely been busy.
When the temperature drops even more, the grass is covered in frost, and we can track our footsteps. A warm fire helps us to keep ourselves comfortable and we share hot chocolate and snacks in the Garden. We even made our own charcoal in the fire then used it to decorate the Garden.
