Going on a Bear Hunt

Ash and Oak Class have been reading “We’re Going On A Bear Hunt”, by Michael Rosen. They came out into the Wildlife Garden and had a bear hunt of their own, finding all the little pictures of bears hidden all over the Garden.
Then they followed the story by picking up pictures of the “long wavy grass”, “the river”, “the squelchy, squerchy mud”, “the forest”, “a snowstorm” and “a narrow gloomy cave”. Inside the cave we found the “shiny wet nose” and the “big goggly eyes” of the bear himself! Using the pictures, the children then joined in very enthusiastically with the reading of the story around our fire circle.
We had a lovely day, in spite of the rain (which meant we had lots of “squelchy, squerchy mud”) – and we weren’t scared!
